African Americans have served their country in every American conflict since the Revolutionary War. Despite their willingness to serve, Black Soldiers faced discrimination both within the military and at home. World War II brought an opportunity for change. The call for men to fill military ranks gave civil rights leaders the opportunity to demand equality.
