CALL TO Arms: The Soldier and the Revolutionary War

You know how the story ended. Now see how it began! Experience the sights and sounds of the American Revolution through the personal stories of the men and women who fought to win our nation’s independence. Explore an unprecedented display of rare Revolutionary War artifacts from the original colonies, England, France and Canada. American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition
Opening Saturday, April 25

From the rhythms of daily life in Colonial Virginia to the frozen resolve of Valley Forge, from the charged streets of Boston to Washington’s daring crossing of the Delaware—and ultimately, the triumph at Yorktown—this groundbreaking augmented exhibition brings history to life. Easy-to-use HistoPad tablets take visitors through pivotal moments, hear the echoes of history and feel the tension, hope and determination that shaped a nation. Explore more here.
Washington’s War Tent Display
April 29-30

Explore a handsewn, full-scale replica of General George Washington’s Revolutionary War office and sleeping quarters presented by the Museum of the American Revolution. Interact with costumed interpreters to experience how the tent was used during the war and learn more about camp furnishings and equipment.
General Washington’s original sleeping and office tent from the Revolutionary War is on permanent display at the Museum of the American Revolution in historic Philadelphia.

The Museum is a proud VA250 Passport Program location! Collect stamps, receive discounts and win prizes at over 70 historic sites and museums across Virginia. Pick up your passport at Virginia Welcome Centers and select passport locations.

Battle Ride: The American Revolution in Virginia, 1775-1776*
May 30-31: Join The Army Historical Foundation and historian Michael Cecere to explore the less well-known events of the American Revolution that took place in 1775 and 1776 in southeastern Virginia that affected the outcomes at the Battles of Trenton and Princeton. Sites visited will include Williamsburg, Hampton, Great Bridge, Norfolk and Gwynn’s Island. Registration required.

Join the second annual Army Birthday 6.14K Road Race that begins and ends at the Museum. Registration required.
