Take I-395 South towards Richmond. Take exit 166A towards VA-286/Fairfax County Parkway. Continue for 2.5 miles and turn left onto Liberty Drive.

Take I-95 South towards Richmond. Exit onto I-495 West Capital Beltway/Outer Loop. Exit onto I-95 South and then take exit 166A towards VA-286/Fairfax County Parkway. Continue for 2.5 miles and turn left onto Liberty Drive.

Take I-95 North towards Washington. Take exit 166A towards VA-286/Fairfax County Parkway. Continue for 2.5 miles and turn left onto Liberty Drive.

Parking

There is no charge for parking.  Parking at the Museum is for visitors, volunteers, and staff only.  The lot will be closed during non-operating hours.

Oversized Vehicle Parking

Buses may drop off their passengers using the bus loop directly in front of the Museum entrance.

There are a limited number of dedicated oversized vehicle parking spaces. Parking passes for buses and oversized vehicles are available through the group ticketing process. Oversized vehicles must display a copy of their parking pass in their windshields. Oversized vehicles parked without a parking pass may be towed.

Prohibited Parking
  • Commuter parking is not permitted in the museum parking lots.
  • Parking for oversized vehicles in single occupancy parking spots is not permitted.
  • Overnight parking is not permitted.



Area Transportation

Metrorail

The Franconia-Springfield metro station, on the blue line, is the closest station to the Museum. It is expected that prior to opening, the Fairfax Connector will provide bus routes from the Metro Station to the Museum.

Virginia Railway Express (VRE)

Visitors traveling via the Virginia Railway Express should take the Fredericksburg Line to the (VRE) Lorton Station.  It is expected that prior to opening, the Fairfax Connector will provide bus routes from this station to the Museum.

Bus

It is expected that prior to opening, the Fairfax Connector will provide bus routes to the Museum. Information will be posted when it becomes available.

Bicycles/Walking

A bike lane parallels Liberty Drive and VA-286/Fairfax County Parkway and is open to cyclists and pedestrians. Bike racks are available at the exterior of the Museum facility.
